Food Review: Modern Asian Dining (MAD @ The Grandstand)

Last Sunday saw Muffin and I at Modern Asian Dining (MAD) at the grandstand, Turf City.

It was a buffet brunch that which comprises of local delicacies, dim sum with a touch western flavours. I didn't drive there so we took the shuttle bus from Toa Payoh which brought us right into Pasar Bella. It's a very family oriented environment. Its full of kiddos, mummies pushing posh buggies, daddies downing beer and friends gathering for burnches in the cafes/restaurants.

We opted for the non-champagne option seeing that I got to care for Leia later in the day so its best not to touch alcohol in the afternoon. The non-champagne option cost $58 nett whereas the champagne option cost $88 nett. If you're into a cuppa bubbly, then please get the champagne option as we're talking about free flow of champagne.

I'm lucky that Muffin managed to get us seats as its super crowded on a Sunday. :)

Crab and lobster bruschetta, wagyu beef mantou and hong kong styled charsiew bun. Fell in love with the bruschetta and wagyu beef INSTANTLY.

The next favourite dish that I had - Parma ham and eggs ben! I'm a crazy fan of my eggs and eggs ben is how I love my yolks to be done. Pictures will tell you more.

Love how the yolk oozed out on the toast and not forgetting the prama ham beneath the eggs! Oh man, I wish I'm having it right now.

Muffin's favourite dish - Wagyu beef with foie gras! The wagyu beef was nicely done, very tender indeed. I'm not really a fan of foie gras (like how I'm not a fan of shark fins) but if you're looking for beef fixed to its perfection, then this dish will leave you wanting for more, which you can have seeing that this is a buffet.

And because I'm still a hawker girl at heart - I definitely chose the Laksa ramen. If you guys are into the traditional laksa, like me, then do not order this dish. Its a mixture of Japanese mix local which in all honesty, quite a let down. Ramen should be done in their ramen way and not like that. Meaning, add soft boil eggs into the ramen please and not kill the traditional laksa this way.

This is just like 10% of the menu. MAD has dim sum like chee cheong fun, stewed chicken feet, the har gao and siew mai which most of you can try. For this all-you-can-eat buffet menu and to be priced at $58 nett, TOTALLY WORTH IT. Of course, like what I mentioned, top up $30 for free-flow of champagne if a bubbly is what you need to wind down on the weekend.

Muffin introduced this to me - Chia seeds which I bought at Pasar-Bella, the farmer's market. These seeds can be added to your drink (be it milo, juice or even plain water) and it keeps you full for longer periods of time, so that you wouldn't be gorging yourself silly and whining about being fat (like how I use to). These organic seeds are priced at $16.50 a bottle which I of course grabbed. HAHA!! So if you're vain like me, then please, go ahead and knock yourself out.

After brunch, I had my facial which I totally slept throughout. So now my face is all prepped up for Cny. Ending of with this selfie taken at the facial parlour:
